History Lesson For IML Whipper Snappers:
The purpose of DAOSI (which became DMSI later on) was to have an extremely ambitious goal. For two reasons. One, was to have something customers would feel compelled to buy and use, to give feedback on as a result. And two, to allow the growth through that feedback and stress-testing in the lofty aims of the program, to bring us to the reality of eventual 6G. It was a classic "win-win" agreement. As an incentive, customers were given a promise that the program would be regularly updated until it achieved "design goal" (ie. sexually attractive women approaching you and seducing you to have sex with them).
People supported the goal of the program itself, as well as IML's goals to help it achieve 6G through the program's results and feedback. It was a co-operative approach, because it was likely it was not to succeed the first time out, and would be a process. I for one, supported it even though I was listening to a version of EPHRA at the time and couldn't even use it for some time. But I wanted to support the program's vision and put money in IML's bank account to support it from day one. And trusted Shannon to deliver, and to honour his promise of free updates until design goal was achieved. Also, it was exciting 6G would eventually become reality through this stress-test process. It was exciting to be a part of that journey. And now it's reality, how amazing! I purchased DAOSI V1.0 June 6th, 2016. Here we are...hopefully now the program has a chance to fulfill it's promise from then. I actually still have the website pages from back then, LMAO. Classic stuff.
Over time, the program was shelved, which caused anger among many of us who dutifully supported and gave our money and trust for years.
6G was eventually achieved, at long last. Many users of DAOSI (DMSI now) that have stayed, have bought MANY other programs here since that first version 1.0 long ago. Many many years it's taken to finally have this happen.
Now we have a situation here that's complicated...
There have been some...shall we say.."spirited discussions" (I've absolutely been guilty of being involved in that in the past...but it was only from deep belief in the project and Shannon from day one) on the forum over the years about the state of DAOSI (now DMSI) and how it's been shelved often. Caused a lot of controversy and pain.
I suspect because it became trying for Shannon to make it work, he pivoted off the promise he gave us long long long ago about giving us free updates until DMSI succeeds. We trusted him and bought into his vision THROUGH that promise. They're intertwined. I believed from day one and gave him money for a program I couldn't use for MONTHS due to that goodwil and promise, for example.
Now, truly, I don't remember WHEN Shannon started to say that his intention going forward was to not give free updates until the program worked as it's designed to. However...I DO know the DAOSI v1.0 customers were promised free updates until the "design goal" (ie. sexually attractive women approaching you and seducing you to have sex with them), was achieved by us users.
So...I think the fairest option, that will both allow Shannon to "keep his word" to all of us who trusted his promise, given our faith, and money and supported the project from day one and that allowed him to build 6G on our experiences and feedback from the program like we were supposed to have in that "win-win" scenario...is to have the DAOSI v1.0 customers indeed get the DMSI V5 program for "free" as it was the terms of the project from day one. If it achieves design goal, of course...I admit I am still possibly traumatised by that program, lol, and am deeply hopeful it can deliver but am worried about it succeeding in even 6G. We'll see...but if it DOES indeed work for us, then it should fulfill that agreement us DAOSI V1.0 clients made.
Anyone beyond that up to V3.5 for example, I leave that up to Shannon's decision. I think the program has struggled for the majority, and I hope DMSI V5 in 6G can reverse that, but I do have a degree of PTSD surrounding that program now, lmao. Maybe some kind of discount past DAOSI 1.0 is fair, as I don't remember when you changed your viewpoint about the promise of free updates until design goal. So I can't pin down an exact version number cut off for it to help delineate, if you understand me. That way, we still get you paid, Shannon. But at a minimum, the early adopters who backed the project and helped get the wheels pumping, and helped make 6G a reality through their experiences and feedback, are given what they were promised many years ago.
That's probably the fairest resolution. It's surreal DMSI V5 in 6G is possible at last. The idea of that program finally working is mind-blowing to me, personally. It's been a frustrating, painful journey with it...maybe soon it will turn water into wine at last.
Congratulations for getting to this point, Shannon.
