The people who stuck with the experiment the longest getting rewarded seems fair to me. A flat percentage would be less fair in my view, but perhaps less of a headache to manage.
Other than that I think 650$ per stage is fine instead.
There's no "correct one". I'm trying to understand what my customers' point of view is, and how many people hold each point of view.
