Last night I used my iPhone 3 (which is my glorified iPod) and played through that speaker... 12-16 clicks was what was specified for iPhones and I went with 16 (full volume on my iPhone) because it is hard to hear the ocean version over our a/c and fans.
Felt better this am than on previous mornings, even though I had accidentally left it on continuous loop so I must have gotten 5+ loops before I got up in the wee hours and turned it off.
At any rate, feeling more encouraged and will be using my iPhone 6s speaker tonight at 16 clicks, 4 loops/night playing the FLAC silent files on FLAC player+ iPhone app that came from the Apple Store.
Tonight will be the 5th night, so tomorrow night I'll take a break per Shannon's instructions.
For anyone else using this new generation of subs-- they seem to be less forgiving than previous generations where I got great benefit using an external speaker/mp3 player (so I wouldn't have my phone in my sleeping area). That arrangement seems to not work with the HOY at any rate, at least not very well.
Wish me luck! Here's hoping I can make this work and stay off my TRT, peptides for GH and other longevity strategies.
Cheers!

That should have said 13 out of 16 on an iPhone, since the rule is that whatever volume it is on Android, it is +1 on iPhone. So it should be 13 out of 16, not 13 to 16. So from here on out, set it to 13 out of 16 on your phone.
Why do you keep going for the highest volume possible, even if it was a mistake on my end to write that? Didn't you notice that's what caused it to fail last time?
Glad you caught that mistake in the instructions, though.
Thought I had explained why I chose the higher volume-- that is, we run a loud window-mount a/c all night which creates a lot of white noise. I remember your instructions about choosing a volume with the 'Ocean' or 'Stream' versions of your subliminals that say make sure that you can hear it when it is softest. So I ran the Ocean version of the sub and chose the volume where I could hear the softest part over the a/c unit with a towel over the phone so no light would escape. Turns out that was the highest setting. SO, I'll do as you say and set it to 13. I don't think the volume created resistance, though, perhaps because it's a LOT louder on the extension speaker than it is when it comes out of the phone I was getting overwhelmed by the sub and getting some resistance trying to tune it out subconsciously. On the iPhone it's much softer and I had a much better experience last night even though highest volume on the phone isn't quite fully audible over the a/c unit. But, as you say, I'll turn it down to 13 and hope for the best! btw: on the extension speaker, the fidelity is FAR superior to what I get over the iPhone speaker, which sounds kind of muffled/scratchy even with normal phone calls and music. So I thought I was doing a good thing by improving the resolution of the sound. Not overthinking that anymore. Just iPhone on 13 and will go back to 3 loops a night, though I auto-configged up to 4 per night after a few nights of listening at the beginning. I felt that was correct, because I did not 'feel' like going up to 5.
Thanks for the help, @Shannon!

Loops per night, I don't see an issue with. But I was under the impression that you were using ultrasonic or hybrid.
If you're using masked, is there an specific reason for that? If you play ultrasonic on your iPhone at 13/16 it will be heard just fine even though the white noise is loud. They'll be on different frequencies, and it'll work just fine.
With masked, the correct volume will require experimentation under those conditions. I suggest you use ultrasonic if possible and see how it goes for a while at 13.
I only used the masked as the way of determining an adequate volume that wasn't too soft or too loud.
We listen to the silent version.
Last night we listened on the iphone using Flac player.... unfortunately I had added too many copies (not sure how this happened) and played 5 loops last night. We slept great and feel fantastic today, except for a flair-up of back spasms which happens periodically.
We'll take a night off now (have been listening 5 nights), and go back to 4 flac listens per night, unless we show signs of intolerance.
