So do you mean like looking at someones picture or video (i.e duration of how long I look) or is it more if I look at the picture and bring the feelings to the surface so I can fire them off into the subconscious void for them to get hit by the sniper?

If you look at a picture or a video of someone who you want to have sex with, it is theoretically possible to have the standard sniper snipe them to whatever degree you want to have sex with them.  There have been some reports of this, but it is not designed for that.

So wait a minute, if I use DMSI and look at the picture of someone I want to have sex with, the standard sniper will snipe them?

What if it's someone I've only ever known on the internet and never met in person and lives far away? Would the standard sniper still be able to snipe them?

I don't know.  It's not designed to do that and I haven't seen any reports of this in a long time.  What I remember seemed to suggest that.

So what exactly is supposed to happen to a girl when she gets sniped by the standard sniper? What is the intended extent of it?

Does she feel sexy about the user? Are there reports of sexual fantasy of a pornographic scale on her part? Will she be dealing with a storm of feelings about the user?

Does it eventually wear off or does it keep up until the target has successfully had sex with the user

A few of the members here have reported on what it feels like to be sniped when they exposed their girlfriends.  

The standard sniper is designed to create a situation in which the affected notices the user and is encouraged to consider the user for sex to whatever degree the user wants to have sex with them.  The effect has similarities with certain pheromones, not just for attention getting, but sexual arousal and attraction, and re-setting the affected's perception of the user to open the gates.  It is designed to go as far as possible without taking away free will.

If the sniper isn't affecting the person, of course it will wear off.  The standard sniper continues to affect the person as long as they are in the line of sight, and they are sexually attractive enough to the user to trigger it.  The SRS fires at 100% power on the one person who is most sexually attractive to the user, providing they rate at least a 7/10 on the user's attractiveness scale, and it continues to snipe at 100% as long as that person is within 200 feet of the user.

The standard sniper is affected by having sex with someone, because once your sexual needs are met, the desire for sex is lowered and therefore the attractiveness and desire to have sex is lowered.  (This is why we have been fighting masturbation, since it is used as an escape from execution.)

The SRS is not affected by sexual release.
