The universe will give you exactly what you ASK FOR. Nothing more, nothing less. It doesn't care what you want. It cares what you ASK FOR. It is supremely efficient, so no "distractions to see if you screw things up". Anything along those lines is WHAT YOU ASKED FOR. That would seem to be self sabotage.

How would you go about doing that? And how often? I'm sure I could just go on the internet and find out, and I have some of my own ideas as well, but I wanted to ask you first

How to ask the universe for something? You already know how to do it, you do it all the time.

Step 1: Choose a set of core beliefs that lead to the goal.
Step 2: Accept those beliefs as true.
Step 3: Act on those beliefs as if they are true, from the mind and emotions.
Step 4: Put energy and desire into those beliefs and the outcomes they generate.

All this is done automatically for most people. You are one of the first generations in history to be free to choose how you do this. Previously, all this was a Deep Dark Secret ™ and only a very very few knew it.

Simply put, the universe believes you want what you focus on and put energy towards. Those acts result in you experiencing what it is you indicated you wanted by doing those things. They attune you to the "frequency" of the universe in which they are already true.

There are a couple of other factors involved, but they're rather too complex and advanced for this discussion.
