We could en up in the scenario where the subconscious (or any other concerned entity) would actively cause negative effects to then be able to feed on this energy. It's easier to destroy than construct, as it is also easy to take the path of the least resistance in such case.
Well It's not from experience, but that's a well documented phenomenon...
