Not had time to read every single post in this thread. If one wants power over others then it could indicate a a low self esteem. Wouldn't working on self esteem be a better path to follow ?

The idea is more in the sense of positional power. One would have to rise up the social ladder. The idea was to imbue the listener with an overwhelming sense of ambition and drive. Much like a focus fire.
