It's actually not that hard. I tried it over the summer and recorded Luck Magnifier in my own voice using the script provided on the website and with the recorder on my Mp3 player (yes, an Mp3 player). I didn't send it in though, because I didn't have 400 bucks. Here's what Shannon had to say on it:

Recording a script in your own voice is as difficult as you make it. It's not a lot of fun to do when each thing has to be recorded separately, and the tone, inflection, etc. has to be considered. To get the best results, it may take a while to get each statement recorded correctly. Doing something is not the same as doing it well, or doing it right.
