We've said it again and again... women love a confident man. And who's more confident than an alpha? Of course, other males will either consider an alpha equal, or more likely, intimidating/superior. So while you're intimidating the guys, the women will start coming out of the woodwork. 
And yes, AM does mess with your socializing a bit. It's a side effect of instilling a disconnection from what others think of you.
