Sorry dont mean to hijack this thread and and make it us v them just to clarify. I
lived in San Francisco, travelled around California. Spent a few weeks West Palm Beach, Florida, Miami. I had both men and women start conversations with me on the street in coffee shops in bars etc. They have this genuine fascination for europe and who I am. Far cry from the a city like London.
The general mentality of the british is to not to talk to anyone outside of their family or social circle. Its very easy to befriend a foreign girl who has recently moved to London. As they are keen to make friends in a new country.
