I worked in the West End for many years along with the commute and you can easily be invisible to people, certainly in the city. There's a lot of loonies in London so I never engaged with anyone looking odd trying to get my attention.
I don't think it's correct to say that London would be a better testing ground. The sub, from what Shannon says about it should transcend normal social protocols. A bit like an itch in public on your balls, that gets worse and worse but you can't scratch it because it's too embarrassing, until of course, in the end, you can't stand it anymore
