It's as simple as this: You make a product or website and start marketing it. Then you go from there.
How do you choose what product to make? Well, become good at something and then make a product about you did it. For example, I have an eCommerce site that makes about $50 - $175 in profit per day with little maintenance. If I were to scale this site (and I will, eventually), I could easily pull in $1000/day.
So, I'm now working on a training series that's going to teach others how to do the same thing I did, step by step. Should be ready by the end of the month.
