Also for example when you stop nail biting, you don't replace it with pulling out your hair right? Patti, if you have a desire to stop smoking; get Allen Carr's Easy Way To Stop Smoking. It was a very helpful guide for me when I quit over a year ago (used to be a chain smoker for 11 years), it helps tremendously if you understand the mechanics behind smoking. Also smoking (or plain addiction) is a very ego based (instant gratification, very childish excuses to keep on smoking, lot of emotional bs, victim mentality and a lot of pattern matching revolving around smoking), know that there was a time that your body was complete, and didn't needed nicotine to make itself feel good, more confident or relaxed. Your body is more than capable of just doing that. Also when you quit know that each withdrawal symptom doesn't last longer than 3 minutes (anything longer is your own doing), just keep your mind on something else during that time. In the end you'll be only dealing with withdrawal for about 20-40 min. a day. Which isn't forever as the addiction wants to make you believe. Day 4 has the most withdrawal symptoms, after that it starts to decline, and in 3 weeks you will be free of 99% nicotine in your body. And if you're still "hungering" for nicotine afterwards, then it's all in your head. Also make it a decision to stop smoking, and do this only for you (this both works on empowering and taking control over yourself). What was sort of a stepping stone and what worked for me was using the mindset of 'I'm able to smoke, but I choose not to'. When you deny yourself something, makes it more valuable, and it's a sure way to start all over again. What is also pretty important is to take it day by day, instead of thinking of just quitting forever. If you need any help with this, feel free to PM me. RE: Shannon's Journal - Ryan - 03-10-2011 Well I gotta say they worked for me. Quitting was hard, mostly when I was in social situations where I needed them most. So I used herbal cigarettes which do not contain any nicotine and that helped me so much, I no longer crave cigarettes at all, I don't even need herbal cigarettes anymore. It's just that I noticed that if you don't deal with an addictive mindset is that your ego will tend to find other external (negative) substitutes to reward itself with (subconsciously), which ultimately can make you more susceptible to other addictions or eventually have you getting back to smoking because you still feel you have a need for external rewards (the ones that don't require a good reason or long term thinking/planning to obtain them, instant gratification). Is it possible that after quitting you manifested a few new (bad) habits or continued on returning to some old ones? I don't want to be too intrusive but for example did you happen to gain more weight after you quit smoking, or noticed that you're spending more money on stuff (that you don't really need)? At first I didn't understand how they could possibly work, but I've been doing a little research and what I have found has fascinated me. "The upper frequency limit in humans (approximately 20 kHz) is due to limitations of the middle ear, which acts as a low-pass filter. Ultrasonic hearing can occur if ultrasound is fed directly into the skull bone and reaches the cochlea through bone conduction without passing through the middle ear." Now it says "fed directly into the skull bone" which would require a device of some sort that is in contact with the skull. But it seems like these ultrasonic subliminals are still able to vibrate the inner ear through the air. Is the principle still the same, bone is being vibrated within the ear to hear the messages? This really is amazing how we can decipher these messages even at ultrasonic frequency. I don't think that there is enough energy in the audio at normal levels to become conductive through bone, if it is delivered via the air. That it works through physical contact is not surprising, but the amount of energy involved in doing the same thing through the air would seem to make that explanation impossible. How ultrasonics work, I have only ever found one theory to explain adequately, and even it has problems. But... the idea is that the hairs in the inner ear, which deal with our sense of balance, are affected by the ultrasonic audio and the resulting nerve impulses are translated by the brain into comprehended audio stimulus. The idea of an ultrasonic "subliminal" is not new and not original to me. It is similar to the technology that was used by the military and other producers, including the original inventor of the technology, for similar purposes. I just pair it with more effective scripting methods and have better center frequencies. I got the idea when I was doing research into how to make these programs in the early 2000's, before I had the technology to do much of what I can do now. But really, I am not sure anyone really understands how and why ultrasonics work. I have had some very highly educated people dispute the theory I gave above, with very good reasons. Precisely why I approached the concept of ultrasonic subliminals with so much skepticism until I saw proof with my own eyes that it worked on me. I have the feeling that we subject ourselves to a lot of subtle energies throughout the day that might have more of an influence on us than we realize. After reading it I agree totally and it is something i've been experiencing and feeling more powerful for it. I'm happy I have finally been able to tell some idiots who I don't want to listen to and have them abuse me what I think. I know it will smooth out and it's only been to people that have been pushing it and i've always wanted to say something to. I will write more in my journal about it. Tonight, in fact, I expect to make some rather significant headway. There's a lot of work left to do on the set, but it has been in the works for about five days now. Not always getting a whole lot accomplished on it because of other things pulling me away, but I am working on it. I expect it to be finished within another 2 to 3 weeks. But who knows, since I don't see a whole lot of distractions this week, it might be done faster. This has made my life much more better. For example: I was trying to watch TV, and my friend comes in blabbing up a storm (I did not even acknowledge their presence lol). I told her to either be quiet and watch it with me or leave and I'll talk to her later. I enjoy and participate in what I wish without any unwanted distractions. You can look at this any way you want. Pick the more empowering option and go on with life is my suggestion. I want Sex Magnet pretty bad right now lol. I wish I could buy it the day it comes out and have the Groundhogs Day effect.
