My first thought would be that this system would be financially unfair to people who prefer to purchase progarms outright (like I personally do).

Maybe, but what if the economics balance this matter, for example suppose a program cost 600$ and that equals to 6 points 

And each 100$ paid in subscription will cost you 0.8 points or lower, so with this approach, people who subscribe, will take time to accumulate points


But why wouldnt you tried to subscribe ? Does it not appeal to you or why not? My point is that subscribing is really not that attractive, thats why many people prefer not to do it

AFAIR, subscriptions were primarily intended as a way of letting people who cannot afford to splurge 500+ bucks on a program outright use them, as well as to allow people to try them out for a fair price before buying them and then asking for refunds when they're not to their liking or they hit resistance.

I personally try not to do subscriptions due to budgeting on a freelance gig - I'd rather save up and purchase a program outright because of that. This also allows me to set it up in my preferred media player in a convenient playlist - which is great especially now that I'm using two programs (OSC + the DRS v2 shield).
