I was looking over the OFv2 description, and noticed the price is on sale. And was surprised that the original price is
247.45.
I bought E3 last year and paid about 113$ for it.
I want to get OFv2, but I need to know how long this sale will be active.

I heard that there are usually sales twice a year, is this one of them?
Also is it true that the old tech goes on sale before a new generation is released?

No, this sale is related to the bad economic conjuncture. Prices for the latest generation 5.75.x are temporarily the same price as for generation 5.5. Eventually they’ll go up to the full price but we do not know when yet.

We will usually have 1 a year atleast, but then sometimes other sales might pop up. The 'sale' on 5.75g is representing the price it will eventually goto.
The second isn't true, not sure where you seen that. It might be that you seen Shannon saying that only previous generations of programs will go on sale, not the current generation.
