In a lot of sports your mentality is important. I skateboard and what I've found is that I have a lot of what ifs that hold me back from pushing myself. It's like if I think of doing a trick that's a little risky my mind immediately goes to the negatives like breaking my arm or something. Interestingly enough the more fear I have the less likely I am to commit to something, which is actually worse because that's when accidents happen.
I think if there were some way to replace those fearful thoughts with thoughts of success or confidence, I'd do a lot better. I have the technical skill, I've just always been held back by fear. I think this could work for a lot of other extreme sports as well.
Or maybe if you have a suggestion for a current sub that's already in the shop that might work for me.
