It really is a trap in that we can get so focused on the goals we make that we get stuck in thinking that they are our ultimate goal. I don't like to speak for others, but I feel like everyone's ultimate goal in this life is the feeling of accomplishing and experiencing a happy and fulfilling life before passing on. To do that we have almost a laundry list of contradicting needs.
To feel wanted and to want others.
To be powerful and in control while accepting somethings are outside of our power and control.
To break down our sexual barriers and experience pleasure while also maintaining respect and fulfillment through sexuality.
To find and overcome challenges that allow us to seek greater challenges.
Passion.
These are internal goals that are mind expanding and give life purpose. But we need external situations to allow them to happen a lot of the time. It's super confusing and extremely hard to do. But being mindful of the needs and the paths we take are always helpful in reaching them. I love motivational quotes, but it's kind of funny how we try to apply those goals to our short term goals without doing the same to our lifelong goals. Be human and be great. We all kick a** but sometimes we need a reminder. Having down moments and dark reflections can help us to find those reminders if we use them wisely.
