Many people don't give themselves much of a chance of getting "better" in life. A guy who was a Factory worker reckoned he would never get ahead in life, until one day his employer with 6,200 staff put a notice on the blackboard inviting staff to make suggestions how the company could make savings and achieve more production.
He submitted 6 ideas and 3 were adopted. Only 31 other workers dropped their ideas into the Special Suggestion Box. Suddenly, he realised his chances of Promotion had taken a Quantum Leap Forward. He was no longer one of the crowd of faces on the Assembly Lines. He eventually became Chairman of the Company.
