Interesting. And I want something to add. IMHO, we should clarify terms.
Fear. Light side of Fear is a useful emotion, its acts like a warning system.
It makes us vigilant or better to say more alert and concentrated.
The shadow side of Fear makes us impotent (in both ways it paralyzes our thought processes, diminishing the power of our action.
Next, Clarity. This is very interesting term, because in Russia - Clarity means: see the things exactly as they are. No bulls*iting! Seeing the things exactly as they are makes us stronger, because to see things clearly, and it literally means "be free of illusional bulls*it". Btw, clarity destroys resistance.
Maybe Castaneda mean Clarity as "well, I haven't read that book but must to say", "know-it-all", "theoretic without experience". IMHO, bulls*hit is a good synonym for that
Next, Power. Light side of Power - an ability to act and influence world in certain ways. Well, thats good one. Alpha's, for example, influence world much more than beta's. And its seems that the quality of that influence is depends on personality. Adolf Hitler and Martin Luther King both got a power, isn't? What side do you choose? So "use if wisely"
Last one, Tiredness/Old age. Its simple. If the person looses a flexibility ("world never changes") he or she is unable to learn new concepts. We all know that old people have a tendency to be very rigid. Okey, I just say from science point of view: neuroplasticity. Recent researches revealed that our brain stay flexible despite of age. So 18 or 85 it doesn't matter. If you 35 and want to become alpha - why not? its only depend on goals you want to achieve.
Hope this helps
