The money doesn't matter at all. What does matter is,
To solve your problem just use AM 6.0 together in one room. You paid legally and the owner is one of you, say the owner is you. You use AM 6.0 in your room and your friend sleep in your room. Done.
One copy one owner and everybody in.the listening zone will get affected and that usage method is fair.
