Week 1
Another mild acid incident overnight, later this week. Other than that, no issues.
Some conscious stuff. This may take some explaining to set the context.
When I went back to work last fall after looking for over half the year, I took a step back in role, a 10% pay cut and gave up PTO to get my current contract. It's 12 months with no "to-hire" stated up front.
Over the last few months, the company I'm placed with has mentioned a couple of times about shifting their workforce from the current mix of contractors and employees to a mix that is more employees and less contractors. Then, just this week, the guy I report up to let the whole team know that they are bringing on managed services at our level of the org to supplement the team and take over the grunt work. At the end of that meeting he specifically called out myself and the other two contractors on our site and said "you guys don't have anything to worry about; you're still going to be on the team."
Also this week, I had a realization that my current position is not asking for my best. Normally that would have been a resentful statement. This time, it's a... wait for it... confident statement. I absolutely have better to offer any employer in my field; I was delivering that in my previous role.
I'm feeling very positive about the above. And even if the current company doesn't decide to offer me a permanent role, and despite my age*, I'll find a place where I can deliver the best I have to offer; with better pay, PTO, etc.
*I'm not too far from retirement age. My retirement financial prep is way behind, so I anticipate working as long as I need to and am able. Of course, an ILM 6G money product will definitely be of benefit on that score.
