Irma is now making landfall near Marco Island Florida. She didn't shift very far west, so the entire width of the state is getting hammered. If you look at a radar picture of the storm, you can see why the east side of a hurricane is the worse side to be on. So Shannon is probably experiencing bands of heavy rain and tropical storm force winds, with scattered tornado activity.
