Day off today and I'll bump it up tomorrow.
Say, is it common for exes to come back into the picture? One has invited me out, and said she'd want to have dinner (I assume that I would be paying for all of that?)
Context: we were dating casually and just stopped messaging each other.

A theory for exes who come back at this moment in history: She's just not a big fan of the gas prices.
I'm 5 years older than her and have a consistent income.

I have seen more than a few people see ex's come back into their lives. 

My suggestion is, if she invited you out to dinner, she's covering it, unless you agree to something else.  Might want to clarify that with her.  I'm not a big fan of "Hey, let's go have dinner, I'm inviting you out to dinner, but I want a free one on your dime."

That said, it's very possible that once you get the "who pays" thing worked out, DMSI might make things significantly spicier than before.

But I wouldn't be surprised if your theory is 186% spot on.

I hadn't thought about her being an exe.  Is it Brenda.exe?  Jennifer.exe?  lol

In case you don't get my humor, .exe is the extension a file has on a Windows computer when it is "executable", i.e. a program you can run.  Windows likes to hide extensions now, so not everyone will know that anymore. 

Just remember, Ex-Girlfriend.exe usually needs to be scanned for virii, trojan horses and other forms of malware...  multiple times.

Partway through, she travelled to the Dominican Republic for a month or so, then came back, and we resumed.
Eventually, she didn't reply to a message, and I wasn't too fussed about it, so we stopped messaging. We never had the talk about our expectations.
Before long, she was in a relationship publicized on Facebook.

Here's how she replied. And what follows will conclude the story of this returning ex.

Her: "I was going to invite you to my place around dinner time but maybe we could do something tomorrow instead?"

Anyways, she wanted to postpone the meeting because her roommate asked to have the house to herself for a bit. After I said that I was game for this afternoon, she asked if she could come by and make me something. We scheduled for 4. She brought wine but no ingredients. After some talk about it and catching up, we bought burritos (AND SHE PAID FOR IT HAHA).

We came back, ate, played Guitar Hero, then we started getting intimate.
In the heat of the moment, I/we stupidly agreed to do it without protection. This is someone with a business and a job, whom I consider responsible, and with whom I've done this with before. But she's not on birth control. She did say that she just can't have kids.

Anyways, I've had this urge for the last few days to screw raw, and assumed that I would fold the next time my usual girl suggested we not use a condom. I'm typically a complete stickler for using condoms.

Yes, we rematched on the same dating app.
She did ask to make plans out of nowhere, after 24+ hours of not responding to my previous message.
She brought wine, which might be a signal that she was wanting to take the edge off and loosen her inhibitions.
It all felt as though it was leading to sex, even though it was unstated. Not even that much flirting for most of it.

I'm laughing to myself because I'm finding myself constantly craving pussy. Skin to skin. No protection.
I'm bargaining with myself as to whether I'll agree to go without it with my regular girl. She's been pushing me to do it.
A couple of weeks ago I had a strict 'always-condom' policy, with the rare exception.
Using my big brain for a moment, to feel comfortable, I would have to know where she is in her cycle, as well as if she has other partners. She's told me she would hate to have kids, but who knows what good is her word should she actually turn out pregnant?
