This is the hard disk I replaced my old one with.

It's a laptop hard disk. When I buy computer parts, I always go to Newegg.com and I always use a special method for determining what the best, most reliable part is to buy.
Step 1: Go to the computer hardware section, and choose the part type you need. (In this case, it was hard drives.)
Step 2: Choose the sub-type required, if necessary. (In this case, laptop hard drives).
Step 3: Choose the most important feature it must have. (In this case, it must be a 7200 rpm drive.)
Step 4: Choose the second most important feature it must have. (I am replacing a 7200 rpm disk that was 640 gigs, but no such disk seems to exist anymore at NewEgg as of this writing, so I looked at the two options on either side: 500 gig, or 750 gig.)
Step 5: Open all options that have at least 4 or 5 eggs ratings in their own tab. I usually only look at 5 egg ratings.
Step 6: Kill the tabs of all options that fall in the "too high priced" category.
Step 7: Narrow your options down to three, based on the highest rating AND the number of ratings the item has. The more ratings it has, the more reliable an indicator the rating will be.
Typically, I choose the item which has the highest rating, and the highest number of people rating it, and the best price.
Voila: usually a fantastic deal, and a great, reliable product.
