Dogs and subliminals - Clamshell - 03-20-2010

In a couple of months, I will be moving into a house that has dogs. I was wondering if dogs have issues with your subliminals or not? I'd hate to be playing a sub at night, and having a dog start barking and waking up the whole house.

Excellent question. Dogs can readily hear these programs in the ultrasonic, but unless you are playing them WAY th heck too loud, they shouldn't be bothered.

I happen to live with two Yorkies, and they spend a lot of time in the presence of ultrasonics, some being played at above normal volumes (but not ridiculously loud). They have no problems.

On the other hand, one of my friends, while using one of my programs, decided that since she couldn't hear them, that maximum volume was necessary. She put her poor dog through a lot of hours of what appeared to be a migraine headache until I stopped by one day and told her what she was doing. So please... don't do that. Calibrate it by an audible track first, and then use that volume.

If you find that the dogs are still bothered, try slowly reducing the volume until they stop. Take note of where the volume is, and then listen to a normal track. If you can hear it, then you should be able to get some benefit from the ultrasonic at that volume. Make note of how far away you can hear the audible program playing. That will be where the ultrasonic no longer has an effect. Stay within that distance of the speakers.
