RE: Staticky sound on quality speakers - cataleya - 05-02-2013 Hello! I have a question for anyone that is willing to answer I have been listening ASC for a couple of days now through my computer speakers, but I want to get more exposure. I have micro stereo music system that I want to use so I can listen to ASC ultrasonic while I sleep. According to tech specifications I found online ( http://www.scribd.com/doc/70163906/Philips-MC105 ), my speakers should be able to reproduce it. So I burned ultrasonic on CD and it replays it normally but when I turn the volume up to maximum I can hear staticky noise. Does that mean that the speakers are not suitable for ultrasonic version after all? RE: Staticky sound on quality speakers - Shannon - 05-03-2013 That means you have exceeded the volume at which your speakers can handle the audio reproduction without distortion. It is possible for speakers that are able to reproduce ultrasonic audio properly to have difficulty at high volumes because the resulting force creates distortion, which comes out as static. If you follow the directions for setting the volume and still have the static... then there's something wrong with either the speakers or the player. Ok, understood. When I follow the directions for setting the volume, there is no static. However, just to be sure I downloaded and burned the test speakers mp3 onto a CD and when I tried to replay it on my stereo, the stereo said there is no disc. So I burned another CD because I thought that something may be wrong with the first one, but the same thing happened again, it said there is no disc. Do you still think my speakers are fine or should I just get another set of speakers? Thank you very much Shannon! Is that ok, because I read elsewhere that stereo speakers are recommended. I've got these speakers: http://www.amazon.co.uk/SP-101-Powered-Portable-Multimedia-Speakers/dp/B005VBN2A8/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1369491904&sr=1-1&keywords=acme+sp101 They are listed as 20Khz and pass the speaker test (no static or interference) but I'm concerned that they may not be reproducing the ultrasonics well. I'm really struggling to find some speakers that I know for certain will produce the ultrasonics correctly. I've tried but I just cannot get to sleep using the masked tracks so I would really appreciate it if someone with definite results from using the silent tracks could post their speakers (I'm using an mp3 player, not an iPod). Thanks! After reading over the specs there good enough to reproduce the ultrasonics. Make sure you burned the cd to the proper format for what its asking for. When I say that I mean dont try to play a mp3 cd on the player if it doesnt play mp3s. Lots of software like windows media or itunes should automatically change the mp3 into a wav cd which is akin to compact disc playing. On the volume changing speaker theres a lineout port to hook up mp3 player/ipod to. You dont need to have a computer to use these. Just hook it up to a surge protector or power splitter with a switch so you dont have to plug/ unplug the speaker everytime you use it. Set the subwoofer to minimum as you obviously wont need that for the ultrasonics. Otherwise I recommend X-mini II speakers if you absolutely insist on usb speakers. Its 18 bucks on amazon but you have buy 2 for the whole stereo aspect. http://www.amazon.com/X-mini-XAM4-B-Mono-Capsule-Speaker/dp/B001UEBN42/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1369588366&sr=8-1&keywords=x+mini+speaker The audio on them is great and the battery life is amazing even if you dont use them for a while. RE: Staticky sound on quality speakers - Alta - 05-28-2013 cool, thanks for the suggestions. I'll trial my speakers for a bit but if no results I'll look into these. RE: Staticky sound on quality speakers - Alta - 06-11-2013 ok I got one of the X-mini II speakers but when I run the audio test there is some interference audible after 20 seconds or so. It's not static, just sounds like tuning in a radio receiver, an up and down wavy pattern. When I play an actual ultrasonic track there is no sound at all. Subeternal I just wanted to check, have you used these X-mini speakers yourself with definite results? I've been listening to the "Socialising is just a fun game" sub for 2 and a half weeks now and I'm not seeing any noticeable results just yet. Maybe it's too soon. But of course I am paranoid that my speaker aren't producing the ultrasonics well, even though the speakers I've been using (the ACME sp101) pass the speaker test fine. RE: Staticky sound on quality speakers - Alta - 07-06-2013 I've been using the x-mini II speaker with good results so I can confirm that this speaker definitely works for ultrasonics RE: Staticky sound on quality speakers - Alta - 01-25-2014 (06-11-2013, 12:07 PM)Alta Wrote: ok I got one of the X-mini II speakers but when I run the audio test there is some interference audible after 20 seconds or so. I have recently invested in some better quality speakers (Creative Gigaworks T20, rated 20Khz) and I've noticed the following: The pulsing, "tuning in a radio" sound comes in at around 8 seconds. It is audible in the right speaker only. It increases with increasing treble. Setting treble to minimum reduces it, but it's still there. At full volume I can hear a squiggly digital sound from the left speaker (imagine a 1980s film of a computer processing something - that type of sound). I hear these sounds when using my laptop to play the speaker test as well (through the internal laptop speakers, the Gigworks and x-mini capsule speakers - all of which reproduce the ultrasonics well - no static). When playing an ultrasonic track at full volume I hear absolute silence with the Gigaworks speakers. So are these sounds just artifacts of the speaker test and not an indication of sub-standard speakers?
