RE: OFv2 - London1 - 05-04-2021 @Shannon So I downloaded frequensee and did a little experiment to try get to the bottom of this. By the way when I did this there was some noise in the background so the line shouod be a bit more flat. US at 4/15 on phone speakers there is a high peak right around 20khz [attachment=712] With earbuds at 4/15 US there is nothing showing At 15/15 with ear buds it looks like this [attachment=713] 15/15 with phone speakers it looks just like the first pic, except at -10 db. Speaker test with phone speakers there are two high peaks one at around -15 db at -45 db and finishes off at 20khz and -30 db. I captured it at 19khz but it finishes off at 20khz [attachment=716] [attachment=715] Speaker test with earbuds, there is a peak that moves all way to 20khz but its a smaller peak, around -65db and I have to turn the volume way up to see it, around 10-11/15. Any lower and nothing shows. Can someone please help me analyze these results? I didnt think it would be possible for my phone speakers to produce the US audio as the phone is a cheap phone and it has mono speakers. I spent money on these ear buds, its stereo and apart from IML stuff it s sound quality in general is very good. RE: OFv2 - Shannon - 05-04-2021 The audio from the earbuds won't be valid for volumetric analysis since that depends on the speaker and the distance from the microphone. However, by the looks of it, they are reproducing the ultrasonic audio. RE: OFv2 - London1 - 05-06-2021 Based on what you said, I put my ear bud directly next to my phone speakers. At 4/15 with US I got this [attachment=717] 8/15 [attachment=718] Does that look fine? It looks like it doesnt peak directly at 20khz. And what I find weird is that this is what 1/15 on phone speakers look like and it peaks at 20khz. How is that? [attachment=719] RE: OFv2 - Shannon - 05-06-2021 This is what a frequency analysis plot looks like directly from an analysis of the ultrasonic audio. [attachment=720] What you see from the phone's speaker is a result of the speaker and the microphone interacting more accurately. You see that there are two peaks around 17.5 kHz. FrequenSee is not exactly the most precise way of measuring this stuff because of the thickness of the blot line and the way it's interface is designed. RE: OFv2 - London1 - 05-06-2021 So are my earbuds ok for listening to US (if I have to) and these subs in general? They would appear to be reproducing the audio correctly. But again, recommend strongly against using ultrasonics with earbuds or earphones. Especially earbuds. |
