RE: What's your favorite operating system? - Oversoul - 07-08-2019 Ever Windows laptop I had broke within 2 years. This Mac laptop I have now has lasted me 4 years and runs like its new... Every windows computer just seems slow now even if its not RE: What's your favorite operating system? - JackOfHearts - 07-08-2019 -Windows has problems, a lot of them, it works for 6 month then it's more complicated, a lot of bugs or virus, with cryptocurrency a new way to make money I noticed a lot more virus targeting your CPU resources. Constant update without possibility to stop them is a nightmare. I'm forced to it use though , there is no real alternative. -Linux works fine but unfortunately hardware is often not supported completely, main problem for me is lack of software and my laptop battery drains too fast. Nice in theory, not possible in practice. -Mac is too expensive, and recently with all the crap I hear about them they seem in a similar state as windows except them it's the hardware they are messing with. I would be okay buying the model before 2012 though when they still offered removable HDD, still it was expensive but the value was there, it's not anymore to me. The way they messed with the keyboard recently makes it unforgivable to me, they had one of best keyboard, they f**k it up very badly. (I'm talking about laptop here) Winner: Windows, it's like a president in a fake democracy, you can't remove it from it's place. Hoping it will last to 2023 then i'll buy the top of the line one for the next 10 years. I think the fact that you can keep a mac for this long without having to replace the laptop every 2 years prices it the same as getting any other computer using a different OS system which keeps needing replacement. This Mac laptop I have now has lasted me 4 years and runs like its new... Yeah probably. Let say a top of the line mac cost $2500 and works 10 years, that $250 depriciation every year. A pretty good PC goes at, what $500? And is good for maybe 2 years. so $250 per year. Not a very big difference if you have the cash. You can probably rent/lease a mac, at least in my country. And then you get a pretty sweet mac! RE: What's your favorite operating system? - JackOfHearts - 07-09-2019 Guys are you talking about Windows the software or the hardware. The hardware unless you are buying the recent Windows laptop has a brand of it's own. Apple software and hardware is one brand only, no choice unless you cheat. There are some Windows Hardware's brand which are similar to Apple in term of reliability and price, the Thinkpad T series from Lenovo for example. Now if you were talking about windows software, that's another story. Apple main advantage is that they sell usualy one type of hardware while windows is sold on a lot of different hardware. This makes Apple reliability much more easy to handle, less work, less problems. Only problem is that if you don't like their hardware you are pretty much f** https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mmlv3ksJ2BA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M47IYjvEGso I think some problems reported from windows bug may also comes from the hardware, especially the cheap PC. But obviously Windows software also have a lot of problems, making the matter worse. There probably other good alternatives to a mac, but I just like everything about them. Thanks for sharing the links, I liked the first guy, but couldn't stand the guy interviewing in the second video so I shut it down half-way. Annoying guy. Interesting to see how they'll manage to fix the keyboard problem in the next version. RE: What's your favorite operating system? - JackOfHearts - 07-10-2019 The 2nd guy likes to makes things dramatic to appeal to the mass,he makes good review also but has a strange way of making review. What's interesting is that the first guy is an Apple fan, he always used them before but due the recent downhill he sits between 2 chair. Which Linux distributions are you referring to? I find that the top 10 or so in DistroWatch are pretty good at hardware. You can't judge "Linux" on one or two distros. RE: What's your favorite operating system? - StridingStrider - 07-12-2019 Windows but only because video games support it more. I would like to try Linux in the future. |
