There is a stereo spatial audio component to these subs, but just because you were listening on a mono speaker doesn't mean you were getting only half the program.

The mono vs. stereo discussion has come up countless times, as people truly want to know they're getting what they paid for.
I wished to inform you that our sub creator, Shannon, uses his phone speaker primarily, which is mono. Stereo may have "more" in it, but many people listen on the mono phone speakers and get tangible results. I've used E2 on my phone at work, and I'm VERY aware it's working. Days using it on my phone at work stand out clearly vs. days without it.
