There's a disconnect, though, when the headphones aren't used frequently enough. People are missing the obvious: it's better to get less-intense exposure consistently than it is to get infrequent or insufficient exposure at the more-intense level imparted by headphones.

Sean, I never heard this before but I'm not sure I'm understanding you correctly. Are you saying it's best to if you can't use headphones all the time, then you're best not to use them? I'm trying to follow what you're saying but I can't. lol It's probably me.

Patti,

I was saying many things with too few words. Sorry about that. Let's start with the facts:

1. Headphones give the user the strongest results from usage.
2. stereo separated speakers are the next best.
3. Speakers that can be heard anywhere are the next best thing.

It's my theory that many of us try to use headphones because we want the whole tamale: morebetterfasterawesomer results (better results more quickly, for our non-native English speaking friends).

The problem arises when we can't get enough exposure through headphones, and don't set ourselves up for success by playing it constantly from any source.

Shannon recommends we have it playing somewhere, 24x7. Where I have tripped up is that I say "I'll put on my headphones later" and then get zero exposure because I neglect to do so.
