ASC & motivation
The entry for ASC in the script library contains a line (emphasis mine) "I now do only those things that increase, improve and strengthen my self confidence." Would putting too much emphasis on this statement result in lack of motivation to do pretty much anything else once processed (e.g. doesn't do school work because it doesn't "increase, improve and strengthen my self confidence")? Would emphasis on equivalent statements in other subs (basically, anything that means "do only X") also result in lack of motivation to do literally anything else if it's not related to that statement?

Can this statement be modified with minimal effort but still give the same intended result (i.e. avoid things that decrease, weaken or make worse) and still use positive wording?

RE: ASC & motivation
I have wondered the same thing. It reads as a statement that can backfire. One that potentially instructs the listener to disregard areas in which confidence needs to be elevated.

I would like to hear Shannon's rationalization for this statement.

Under heaven all can see beauty as beauty only because there is ugliness.
All can know good as good only because there is evil.
