How right is it for the left side to always be left on the left? - Lucius - 03-17-2016

I picked up my headphones today and realised I hardly ever respect the sides when I put them on. That is, sometimes I put the R side on my left ear and L side on my right ear. Considering the fact that these subs are beyond, not just Kanye West's whines but music in general, how important is it to always respect the sides of headphones when listening to subs? Will I get better results if I do?

Haha. My attempt at word play. (I have edited the "?" at the end)

The way I use the stereo-spatial effects, it does not matter whether the "left" channel is heard y your right or left ear.
