If you follow the bitcoin price I think it will follow the same principles which is:
it hits a peek then drop, hit a peek then drop but each time higher and higher.
There are the stupid media that plays with that to put fear into potential bitcoin investor but real investor knows it's just crap.
Bitcoin is a proven system in my opinion. Price is at 7000$ right now, in my opinion even if it crash hard, people will keep coming back to buy more as there is high profit to be made.

it seems like a psychological welfare, do you have the guts to keep your money or will you sell at the wrong moment.
At first it seems like easy money but how many had the strength to keep their 10000 bitcoin from 2010-11; not many Popcorn

Also you have the ones who probably sold when the price was at 0.16cents and are going to buy back just before the price increase again. Don't let them fool you.

I'm waiting for the wallet release though, until now there was nothing to be afraid of as all the wallet containing the big stuff are still locked.
That's a good point. People go up and down like crazy. That is very evident on based on the Electroneum talk boards. I'm thinking that best strategy is to just hold for quite a while. I might play with any coins I manage to mine without touching the initial Investment.

Has the mining rate slowed substantially for you as well? Right now it's barely giving out one coin per hour.

I spent 12+hours mining in the US pool yesterday but it seems like it hasn't found a block in well over 24 hours which seems quite strange. Makes me wonder if it is stuck.
Mined 10 ETN in 12 hours. Yikes...
Well, I plan to hold them for years too. I'm investing in bitcoins too.
The official mining pool seems laggy
I'm using this one:
http://electroneum.hashparty.io/

and it seems to work better, when I switch back to the official I get more errors. Also the fees are at 2% instead of 4% in the official.
I mined around 60ETN with a 350h/s today.

Also one thing you guys might want to know, electroneum cryptographic code is the same as monero. Which means every software used to mine Monero also works for Electroneum.

Here is a guide to for every config possible:

What's your hashrate?
Agreed. I wasted a lot of time mining the official US Pool using their windows app but that led to no electroneum at all. I've been using the electroneum.hashparty.io as well but still only getting about 1 ETN per hour at a hash rate between 150h/s to 350h/s.

I'm also mining using my gpu using awesomeminer vs using cpu which is just too slow. Wish I'd known enough to mine in the first few hours. Some people netted thousands of coins in the first hour alone!

50-70. With my average laptop. Nvdia 920M.
I'm not at home so I can't use the deskop computer.
With a average laptop it's slow af.
The good news is that if the official pool is laggy, it means they are a lot of people mining, too much for the server to handle. So it's maybe why the difficulty is getting high so fast.

Right now the price of the coin seems way too low based on the time spent. But it means the price may go up faster.

at 300h/s you get 34ETN per 24hours (1 day) according to hashparty. So per hour you get 1.4ETN, it's about right Thumbsup

8 hours ago its was around 110ETN per day.
Hopefully the price goes to 50$ per coin, this way you may feel better when you mine one coin per hour Whistle
I tried the unofficial miners and actually the H rate is worse, or same but takes too much times to connect to another block.
So I'm going to stick to the official miner probably.

I don't mine much per day but oh well, better than nothing.
Same as HMoody, the past 24 hours has been one big crash course in crypto's. Pretty interesting how they work.

I'm currently mining at 600 h/s with my CPU + GPU. I have no idea how much ETN I've mined as I haven't accessed my wallet yet.

I'm assuming I have to make an account on cryptopia and send my ETN from my wallet to there?

The true value of these will be apparent in a few years time so best to sit and hold
You don't have to, actually it's safer to use offline wallet than online wallet stored on servers.
Online servers are often the aim of massive numbers of pirate trying to get their hand on a high amount of private keys. They are a lot of money involved and you can get away more easily than stealing from a bank.
And with computer the more people are trying to crack a server or a XBox, Iphone, what ever security the more chance at some point someone will find a breach, it's just a matter of time.
The safest method is to keep your own keys in your computer, usb keys, or offline paper, or best memory Confused

If you have read the recent emails from Electroneum big boss some account may have been breached because their recovery email password wasn't strong enough.

With an offline paper wallet it wouldn't be possible, at best you would have a few cases of either very bad luck or stupidity.

Maybe a better online solution would be to store your private keys in an encrypted file inside an email server like Gmail, Google seems pretty drastic in term of security, I can't even recover one of my own account thanks to their crazy amount of security.
Hey, wtf is happening with ETN
